Salcombe Holiday Homes Limited operate a Cancellation Protection Scheme to cover all clients booking with us. Rental payment less a £20.00 + VAT administration charge is refunded in the event of cancellation due to:-
- Death, serious illness or injury (certified in all cases by a medical practitioner), summons for jury service or witness call of the signatory, or any member of the party listed on the booking form at the time of booking.
- Death, serious illness or injury (certified in all cases by a medical practitioner) of the spouse/partner, parent, step-parent, parent-in-law, brother, sister, children or close business associate of the signatory or any member of the party at the time of booking.
- Redundancy of the signatory or spouse providing that they qualify for statutory payment under current legislation
- The home of the signatory being rendered uninhabitable because of fire, storm, flood, subsidence or malicious damage as certified by police and/or fire services.
The scheme does not cover claims directly or indirectly resulting from or consequent upon:
- Winter sports, mountaineering (normally involving ropes and/or guides) tours, motor competitions.
- Illness insufficiently serious to prevent the person taking the holiday, illness known at the time of booking, any recurring, chronic or continuing illness, disability or condition of any of the persons covered, for which medical treatment or consultation has taken place during the last 12 months immediately preceding the date of booking the holiday.
- War and kindred risks.
- Disinclination to travel.
- Failure of public or private transport services.
- Suicide, attempted suicide, insanity, the influence of intoxicating liquor or the effects of drugs not taken in accordance with treatment prescribed and directed by a qualified medical practitioner or booking a holiday which would be against advice of a registered medical practitioner.
- Pregnancy unless occurring after the acceptance of booking.
- Cancellations from death, injury or illness resulting from venereal disease, AIDS or any AIDS related condition.
- Overseas residents
- Bookings with total rental value in excess of £4000. In this event tenants are asked to arrange their own cover and provide details of this to Salcombe Holiday Homes. Bookings cannot be accepted until details have been provided.
- Any loss which is otherwise insured.
The Scheme is subject to the War exclusion clause and does not cover cancellation resulting from:
- Industrial disputes, riots, civil commotion.
- Natural disasters (e.g. earthquake, flood, volcanic eruption, tidal wave, storms)
- Epidemic of disease in humans or animals
- Adverse weather conditions.
All cancellations must be notified in writing to Salcombe Holiday Homes Limited within seven days of the event causing cancellation (or within 24 hours if during the final two weeks prior to the holiday date). All claims must be made at least seven days prior to the start date of any holiday booked.
Provided the terms of the Scheme are met in full, all previous payments will be refunded less an administration charge of £20.00 + VAT, and the booking fee. Coverage commences on the date of booking confirmation and terminates on the day the holiday begins.
This scheme only covers full cancellation. It does not cover a partial refund.
Should the cancellation be for reasons not covered by the Scheme, the booking is forfeit and the balance still payable on the due date. Salcombe Holiday Homes Limited will, on receipt of written confirmation, immediately endeavour to re-let the property and, if successful, will refund the balance less any expenses incurred in re-letting. Such expenses shall be at the discretion of Salcombe Holiday Homes Limited.
